Pediatric Psychotic Disorder of Neuropsychiatric Systemic Lupus Erythematous

Abstract

Systemic Lupus Erythematous (SLE) is a chronic multisystem autoimmune disease. Neuropsychiatric SLE (NPSLE) is a neuropsychiatric manifestation caused by immune system-induced lesion of SLE’s patients. NPSLE is associated with higher morbidity and mortality . NPSLE is estimated to be around 0.5 per 100,000 people per year (0.8 in women and 0.3 in men). The prevalence of pediatric NPSLE varied from 22% to 95% . NPSLE faces big challenges because of unstandardized diagnostic criteria. Psychotic symptom is one of the 12 central nervous system symptoms found in NPSLE.  Although we have known some risk factors contributed in SLE, but there are no much studies for NPSLE especially psychosis manifestation in pediatric SLE. This case report aims to discuss about one of the trigger which induced psychotic symptom in NPSLE.
