Abstract
Brain Imaging and Its Role in Neuroscience and Medicine
Author(s): Sarah ThompsonBrain imaging has revolutionized our understanding of the human brain, providing unprecedented insight into its structure, function and connectivity. From clinical diagnosis to research applications, brain imaging technologies have become indispensable tools for neuroscientists, clinicians and psychologists. Despite the remarkable progress made in recent decades, the full potential of brain imaging is still being explored, raising critical questions about accessibility, ethical use and the interpretation of complex data. Brain imaging encompasses a variety of techniques, broadly categorized into structural and functional modalities. Structural imaging, including Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), allows visualization of the brain’s anatomy.
