Abstract
Autism Spectrum Disorder Understanding Diversity and Inclusion
Author(s): Lily AndersonAutism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how individuals perceive the world, communicate and interact with others. The term spectrum reflects the wide range of abilities and experiences among autistic individuals. While some people with ASD may require significant support in daily life, others live independently and excel in specific areas. ASD typically appears in early childhood and continues throughout a person’s life. Common characteristics include differences in social communication, repetitive behaviors and strong interests in specific topics.
